The MATS School of Arts and Humanities is home to an interdisciplinary environment designed to impart higher education in literature, language and social sciences. The Department of English under this School since its inception has been providing undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses in English. The teaching contents are continuously updated and teaching methods are reframed to create a learning atmosphere which inculcates in students the ability to think critically, interpret texts in contexts, make theoretical interventions in reading literary works and enrich their lives. The department also allows students to study Mass Communication at the undergraduate level which introduces them to media studies, film studies, journalism and gain field experience publishing and media houses. At the postgraduate level, research based approach to learning in encouraged and diverse areas of literary studies are offered. The doctoral programme of the department promotes high standards of research work and publication .
